Welcome to the Open Day. As well as enjoying the heritage trail and the children’s trail, come and listen to short talks about this amazing site and enjoy a drama by the Proteans.

 

 

Programme of events

 

A drama will be performed by local theatre company, the Proteans in the ruins at 12.00 and 2.30

 

Bill Fergie, Chairman of the Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust, will give a short talk about the history and architecture of the ruined chapels. Talks will take place at 11.00 and at 1.30 in the ruins.

 

Barbara Applin of the Archaeological and Historical Society will give a short talk on Basingstoke wills from the 16th and 17th centuries and funerary practices in the 19th. She has some interesting illustrations so do go along. Meet in the marquee at 10.30 and at 3.30
